Performance Test Engineer

💰 £400/day (Inside IR35)
📍 Glasgow (3 days per week onsite)
📅 6-Month Contract

Our client is looking for experienced Performance Test Engineers to support the performance, scalability, stability and reliability of business-critical applications and platforms. This is a hands-on role requiring strong LoadRunner / Performance Center expertise and end-to-end ownership of performance testing, from requirements and workload modelling through scripting, execution, monitoring, bottleneck analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end performance testing for assigned applications and platforms.
  • Gather and analyse non-functional/performance requirements.
  • Define workload models and prepare performance test plans and strategies.
  • Create and maintain performance test scripts using LoadRunner / Performance Center.
  • Develop scripts across Web HTTP/HTML, TruClient and Web Services protocols.
  • Prepare test data and execute load, stress, scalability and performance tests.
  • Monitor applications and infrastructure during test execution.
  • Analyse results and identify application, integration and infrastructure performance bottlenecks.
  • Capture and report key performance metrics, risks and issues.
  • Produce performance test summary reports and daily/weekly status reporting.
  • Work with development, architecture, infrastructure and business teams to resolve performance issues.
  • Establish and maintain performance testing frameworks, standards and best practices.

Essential Skills

  • 8–12 years' hands-on Performance / Non-Functional Testing experience.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Micro Focus/OpenText LoadRunner and Performance Center.
  • Strong performance test scripting experience using Web HTTP/HTML, TruClient and Web Services.
  • End-to-end experience across requirements, workload modelling, planning, scripting, execution, monitoring and results analysis.
  • Strong experience identifying and analysing performance bottlenecks.
  • Experience with APM/monitoring tools such as Dynatrace or AppDynamics.
  • Knowledge of integration technologies such as MuleSoft, Mule ESB and/or TIBCO.
  • Experience establishing performance testing frameworks and standards.
  • Performance testing experience across both cloud and legacy environments.
  • Strong understanding of performance, scalability, stability and reliability testing.

  • Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
