Role Description
This is a full-time Performance Test Engineer role based in Cirencester, offered on a hybrid basis with some work-from-home flexibility. The Performance Test Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and executing performance and load tests to validate system stability, scalability, and responsiveness. Day-to-day activities include analyzing performance test results, identifying bottlenecks, collaborating with development and operations teams to resolve issues, and contributing to performance test strategies and best practices. The role also involves creating and maintaining test scripts and scenarios, documenting findings, and providing clear recommendations to improve system performance and user experience. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure performance requirements are understood, implemented, and continuously optimized.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in Testing and Test Execution, including designing test cases and running performance test cycles.
- Hands-on experience with Load Testing tools and methods to simulate realistic user and system workloads.
- Ability to develop and refine Test Strategy for performance, scalability, and reliability across applications and services.
- Proficiency in Performance Analysis, including interpreting metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and recommending improvements.
- Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar) and monitoring solutions (e.g., APM tools, logs, dashboards).
- Solid understanding of web architectures, APIs, databases, and infrastructure components (cloud or on-premises) that impact performance.
- Effective communication skills to present findings and collaborate with engineering, QA, and product teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Background in agile or iterative development environments; experience in the talent-tech or SaaS domain is an advantage.
