Company Description
The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA) is a weekend academy offering performing arts tuition for children and young people aged 4–18.
Students attend three-hour sessions that rotate through Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre, and Film & Television, giving them a broad, practical foundation in performance.
The PQA model is designed by professionals from both the performing arts industry and the education sector. This ensures that classes combine strong educational value with realistic industry practice, providing students with a high-quality and engaging learning experience.
Role Description
Performing Arts Teachers/Assistants support the planning and delivery of engaging sessions in Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre, and Film & Television for students aged 4–18. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson activities, leading or assisting practical exercises, providing constructive feedback, and helping to manage classroom behavior and safety. The role involves collaborating with other team members to support productions, showcases, and assessments, as well as maintaining a positive, inclusive environment where students can build confidence and skills. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Haywards Heath, working on Saturdays in line with academy hours.

- Experience and skills in one or more of the following areas: acting, comedy and drama, musical theatre, dance, or vocal performance, filmmaking, acting for screen.
- Ability to work with children and young people in a teaching, coaching, or mentoring capacity, ideally with experience in an educational or youth arts setting.
- Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to motivate and support learners of varying ages and abilities.
- Organizational skills for planning sessions, coordinating activities, and contributing to rehearsals, events, and performances.
- Commitment to safeguarding, promoting an inclusive environment, and following academy policies and procedures.
- Beneficial qualifications may include training or certification in performing arts, education, or youth work; prior experience in professional theatre, film, or television is an advantage.
