Theatre Practitioner/ODP | Recovery/Anaesthetics | Spire Shawfair Park Hospital

Permanent | Full and Part-Time Hours Available | Excellent Salary and Benefits Package

Spire Shawfair Park Hospital is seeking an experienced Theatre Practitioner or ODP to join our theatre team. We are particularly interested in candidates with Recovery experience. Whilst practitioners who are dual-trained in Anaesthetics and Recovery are preferred, we would also welcome applications from candidates who wish to work solely within Recovery.

Located on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Spire Shawfair Park Hospital is a purpose-built private hospital offering a wide range of diagnostic, surgical and outpatient services. The hospital is equipped with modern facilities and advanced technology, providing colleagues with an excellent environment in which to develop their careers whilst delivering exceptional standards of patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality post-anaesthetic care within the Recovery Unit.
  • Monitor, assess and care for patients during the immediate post-operative period.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Work collaboratively with Anaesthetic, Surgical and Theatre teams to ensure safe, effective patient care.
  • Where appropriately trained, support Anaesthetic duties within theatres.
  • Contribute to maintaining high clinical standards, patient safety and infection prevention practices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
