Perioperative Practitioner – Recovery | Leicester | Oadby | Full Time | No Nights
At Spire Leicester Hospital, we're looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our established Anaesthetic & Recovery Team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern, well-equipped theatre environment, supporting patients through their perioperative journey across a range of surgical specialties. You'll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality recovery care while working alongside experienced consultants, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams who are committed to clinical excellence and outstanding patient outcomes.
The Role
As a Recovery Practitioner, you'll provide exemplary planned care for patients within the perioperative environment, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, dignity and experience throughout their recovery journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating patient care within the recovery setting
- Monitoring patients following surgery and recognising and responding appropriately to changing clinical needs
- Supporting patients' health, wellbeing and comfort during the immediate post-operative period
- Working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and the wider theatre team to ensure safe and effective patient care
- Preparing, checking and safely using recovery equipment and monitoring devices
- Maintaining accurate patient records and communicating complex clinical information effectively
- Contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives and best practice standards
- Supporting the development of colleagues and promoting a positive team environment
- Ensuring compliance with infection prevention, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures
- Acting as a patient advocate and promoting equality, diversity, dignity and patient choice at all times

What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
- Previous experience working within a theatre or perioperative environment
- Strong clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to participate in shift patterns
Desirable:
- Previous Recovery experience
- Anaesthetic and Recovery competencies
- Post-registration qualification in perioperative practice or relevant clinical speciality
- Experience working with complex patient caseloads
- Private healthcare experience
- Ongoing professional development within perioperative practice
