Location: Across Glenholme Senior Living services in Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire
Pay Rate: £40,000 per year
Hours: 40 hours per week, rota basis
Contract Type: Full Time
Join Glenholme Senior Living as a Peripatetic Chef
Glenholme Senior Living is looking for an experienced and adaptable Peripatetic Chef to support our care homes across Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.
This is a varied role where you will work across different Glenholme Senior Living services, providing essential catering support during periods of holiday, sickness and other operational requirements, as well as supporting major events.
As a Peripatetic Chef, you will be responsible for the planning, preparation, cooking and presentation of nutritious, high-quality meals for our residents. You will ensure that individual dietary needs, cultural requirements and personal preferences are respected, while maintaining high standards of food hygiene, health and safety.
You will need to be comfortable working in different kitchens and with different teams, quickly familiarising yourself with residents' dietary requirements, menus, kitchen arrangements and working practices.
Due to the travelling nature of the role, you must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.
What You'll Be Doing
- Travelling between Glenholme Senior Living services in Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire according to operational and staffing requirements
- Providing Chef cover during periods of annual leave, sickness absence, vacancies and other operational needs
- Planning, preparing, cooking and presenting balanced meals and beverages to a high standard
- Catering for residents' individual dietary needs, cultural requirements and personal preferences
- Ensuring meals are prepared on time and served in accordance with agreed schedules
- Directing, supervising and supporting kitchen staff
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, kitchen cleanliness and health and safety
- Maintaining accurate food temperature, stock and kitchen records
- Ensuring food is stored, labelled and rotated correctly
- Monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies and helping manage catering expenditure
- Minimising unnecessary food waste and maintaining effective stock rotation
- Supporting audits, inspections and quality monitoring
- Maintaining consistently high Glenholme Senior Living standards across every service you support

What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Knowledge of COSHH, HACCP, and Environmental Health Standards/Regulations
- Experience in leading, motivating, and inspiring a kitchen team
- A strong understanding of nutrition and dietary needs
- Skilled in preparing meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients
- Ability to create a warm and welcoming dining experience
- Confidence in engaging with residents to design appetising, nutritious menus
- Works well with residents, care teams, managers and other colleagues
- Is committed to providing residents with a positive and enjoyable dining experience
- Holds a full UK driving licence
- Has access to their own vehicle
- Is able to travel across Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire as required
