About The Role
Job Purpose:
The Peripatetic Operational Support Manager is a strategic growth role, providing flexible operational support where it is most needed across accommodation-based and community-based services. Working alongside Service Managers and senior leaders, the postholder will support referrals, assessments, individual package development, mobilisation, scaling, early stabilisation, and targeted service development. Deployment will be agreed according to operational priority, risk, capacity, and service need, ensuring new placements or packages of support are planned safely, person-centred arrangements are clearly defined, and services progress towards agreed occupancy, quality, and financial targets. The role will also coordinate operational project delivery, property or service readiness, recruitment, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. By providing time-limited support to services requiring responsive intervention, additional management capacity, or structured improvement activity, the postholder will help protect managers’ capacity to maintain oversight of service quality, safeguarding, staffing, occupancy, or package delivery, financial performance, and compliance while Venture People expands into new and existing regions.
Location:
Sussex based but with some hybrid working across the South East, with regular travel and overnight stays required. A full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential. Mileage can be claimed for journeys over 20 miles from base location/home.

Job Opportunity
Measures of Success:
- New services open safely and within agreed mobilisation timescales.
- Property, workforce, systems, quality, and compliance requirements are demonstrably ready before opening.
- Referrals are responded to promptly, and placements progress efficiently through assessment and transition.
- Agreed occupancy, staffing, quality, compliance, and financial milestones are achieved or recovery actions are clearly documented.
- Operational risks and delays are identified early, escalated, and resolved.
- Services receiving intervention demonstrate improved stability and a sustainable handover to permanent management.
- Mobilisation learning is captured and applied consistently across future projects.

Essential Skills
- Proven experience in project management and service mobilisation within health, housing, and/or social care.
- Experience in accommodation-based and/or community-based mental health or learning disability services.
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards.
- Financial acumen and experience in budget management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Leadership experience in a social care organisation, including supporting service improvement, turnaround, or operational stabilisation.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Experience managing dispersed or multi-site teams.
- Evidence of successful service innovation, occupancy growth, referral conversion, service improvement, or income growth.
Other Criteria
- Flexibility and resilience to travel across a large geography with regular overnight stays.
- Ability to work out-of-hours when required to meet service demands.
- Commitment to creating non-judgemental, de-institutionalised environments for staff and individuals.
