Peripatetic Registered Care Manager

Application Deadline: 21 December 2026
Department: West 5
Employment Type: Fixed Term - Full Time
Location: Godalming
Reporting To: Lisa Sims
Compensation: £38,000 - £45,000 / year

Description

Extraordinary Care. Extraordinary Culture. Extraordinary Careers.

Helping Hands was built on kindness and it still guides everything we do today. We’re a purpose-driven team helping people live well in the homes and communities they love. Join us, and you’ll be part of a supportive, ambitious team where your work truly matters, and you can grow a career that counts.

We’re looking for an experienced Registered Care Manager to join us as a Peripatetic Registered Care Manager on a 6-month fixed-term contract, providing experienced leadership and management support where it’s most needed.

Unlike a traditional multi-site role, you won’t be responsible for managing several branches at once. You’ll be assigned to one branch at a time, providing dedicated leadership, stability and operational support during periods of temporary management need, change or transition.

Your initial assignment will be with our Godalming branch, where you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and management of the service. Should business needs change during your contract, there may be a requirement to provide support to another branch within a reasonable travelling distance.

This means you’ll have the opportunity to become fully embedded within the branch you’re supporting – getting to know the team, customers and local community rather than operating as a traditional regional multi-site manager.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the branch you’re supporting with warmth, confidence and clarity, creating stability and a high-performing, values-driven environment where colleagues feel supported and able to thrive.
  • Ensure every customer receives outstanding care, from regular visits to respite and Live-in services – championing quality, safety and consistency.
  • Maintain full regulatory compliance across the service, driving a “right first time” culture and responding quickly and effectively where improvements are needed.
  • Quickly build strong relationships with colleagues, customers and families, providing visible and consistent leadership throughout your assignment.
  • Build relationships across the local community, including healthcare professionals, local authorities, GPs and other partners, helping to grow the customer base and strengthen Helping Hands’ reputation.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams across Operations, People, Quality, Finance and Marketing to deliver great outcomes for customers and colleagues.
  • Monitor branch performance, manage budgets and KPIs, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability and service delivery.
  • Support your Area Care Manager and fellow leaders by sharing best practice and helping embed a culture of excellence across the wider region.
  • Adapt confidently to changing business needs, ensuring a smooth handover and continuity of leadership when moving between assignments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why Helping Hands?

For more than 35 years, Helping Hands has been supporting people to live independently in the homes and communities they love. Today, we’re one of the UK’s leading home care providers, but our approach remains rooted in the same values we started with – kindness, compassion and putting people first.

As a Peripatetic Registered Care Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to make an immediate and visible impact. You’ll step into a branch at a time when experienced leadership really matters, providing stability for colleagues and continuity for customers and their families.

You’ll also have the backing of an established national organisation, with dedicated support across Operations, Quality, People, Recruitment, Marketing and Finance, so while you’ll have the autonomy to lead your service, you won’t be doing it alone.

In return, you’ll join a supportive organisation where your experience is valued, your ideas are welcomed and you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference from day one.
