Permanent Children's Social Worker Opportunities For Local Authorities
We are currently recruiting for multiple permanent Children's Social Worker positions across two highly supportive Local Authority Children's Services departments. About the Team
The Children with Disabilities Team provides specialist support to disabled children and young people up to the age of 18.
The team works closely with children, families and partner agencies to assess needs, provide advice and coordinate bespoke support packages that promote positive outcomes and improve quality of life.
Practitioners benefit from a supportive management structure, manageable caseloads, reflective supervision and excellent professional development opportunities.
Previous experience working within a Children with Disabilities Team is desirable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload of disabled children and young people.
- Undertake statutory assessments and reviews.
- Complete Child and Family Assessments and Care Plans.
- Develop outcome-focused support plans.
- Work directly with children and families to identify needs and strengths.
- Coordinate support from partner agencies.
- Safeguard children and promote their welfare.
- Prepare reports for reviews, conferences and legal proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case records and documentation.
- Participate in supervision, training and continuous professional development.

- Qualified Social Worker.
- Social Work England registration.
- Experience within Children's Social Care.
- Strong assessment and safeguarding skills.

About the Team
The Family Help Service works with children and families requiring targeted support and intervention to improve outcomes and reduce risk.
Working within a restorative practice framework, Social Workers provide help, support and safeguarding interventions while working collaboratively with children, families and partner agencies.
The service focuses on helping children remain safely within their family networks wherever possible while ensuring timely intervention where concerns arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Lead Practitioner for allocated children and families.
- Undertake Child and Family Assessments.
- Develop and coordinate Family Help Plans.
- Complete safeguarding and risk assessments.
- Lead Child in Need and Family Help planning processes.
- Participate in strategy discussions, core groups and multi-agency meetings.
- Build restorative relationships with children and families.
- Deliver direct interventions to promote positive change.
- Prepare reports for conferences, reviews and court proceedings.
- Maintain accurate case recordings and statutory documentation.
- Work collaboratively with education, health, police and partner agencies.
- Promote child welfare, protection and long-term positive outcomes.

Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).
- Social Work England registration.
- Experience within Children's Social Care.
- Knowledge of:
- Children Act 1989
- Children Act 2004
- Safeguarding Procedures
- Child Protection Processes
- Working Together Guidance
- Strong assessment and analytical skills.
- Experience working directly with children and families.
- Ability to manage a complex caseload.
- Commitment to restorative and relationship-based practice.

DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS Required
Social Work England Registration: Essential
Driving Licence: Preferred for locality-based work
