22-month contract role with a local authority

Summary

This is a 22-month contract role with a local authority, focused on providing practical, emotional, and social support to young people transitioning from care into adulthood. The Personal Advisor plays a crucial role in helping these individuals achieve positive outcomes in education, employment, training, health, accommodation, and independent living. By working closely with young people, partner agencies, and professionals, the Personal Advisor ensures that care leavers receive the necessary guidance and support to develop independence and reach their full potential.

  • Act as the designated Personal Advisor for allocated care leavers and eligible young people.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review Pathway Plans in partnership with young people.
  • Maintain regular contact with young people, providing advice, guidance, and practical support.
  • Support young people in developing independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, tenancy management, and accessing community resources.
  • Ensure young people understand their rights, entitlements, and available services.

Requirements:

Essential Experience Required

  • Experience of working with vulnerable young people, care leavers, children in care, or young adults.
  • Experience of supporting individuals to achieve positive outcomes and greater independence.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
  • Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Youth Work, Advice & Guidance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 8 hours per day.
  • Location: Civic Offices, 2 Watling Street, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA6 7AT, United Kingdom.
  • Work pattern: 2 days remote, 3 days in the office.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance required.
  • Bi-weekly work schedule.
