Personal Assistant & Carer to Disabled Recording Artist

Location: Richmond upon Thames, Greater London/ Richmond upon Thames / South West London/ Hybrid

Job Type: Part-time, Permanent

Hours: 16 hours per week
8 hours per day

Monday & Thursday

Pay: £146.72 per week

Work Location: In person / on the road

We are seeking a hardworking, dedicated and experienced Personal Assistant/Carer to support an R&B recording artist based in South West London who has cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user.

The successful candidate should have experience supporting adults with physical disabilities and a strong understanding of disability awareness, accessibility, and independent living. We are looking for someone with a bubbly, enthusiastic, and professional personality who is comfortable working within music, entertainment, and social environments.

The role involves assisting with personal care, appointments, emails, bookings, travel arrangements, accessible venue research, and general day-to-day organization. The candidate may also accompany the artist to recording studios, gigs, concerts, meetings, nightclubs, appointments, and other professional and social engagements.

Funding & Grant Applications

The successful candidate should ideally have experience researching and applying for funding and grants within the disability sector. Responsibilities will include identifying suitable funding opportunities, checking eligibility criteria, helping to prepare and complete applications, gathering supporting documentation, managing application deadlines, and assisting with correspondence with funding organizations. Experience dealing with disability organizations, charities, trusts, foundations, community organizations, or other funding bodies would be highly desirable.

Key Duties

  • Supporting and assisting with personal care requirements.
  • Accompanying the artist to appointments and professional or social events.
  • Attending recording sessions, gigs, concerts, and music-industry activities.
  • Assisting with emails, bookings, diary management, and general administration.
  • Researching accessible venues and ensuring appropriate wheelchair access when arranging activities and travel.
  • Researching disability-sector grants and funding opportunities.
  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of funding applications.
  • Gathering and organizing supporting documentation for grant applications.
  • Keeping track of funding deadlines, applications, and correspondence.
  • Assisting with shopping and online shopping.
  • Accompanying the artist to spa, Afro hair, and beauty appointments.
  • Supporting the artist with an ever-changing professional schedule.

The candidate should have an interest in music, Caribbean, and urban culture and be comfortable working within the entertainment industry. Experience with make-up is required, and it is desirable for the candidate to have experience or qualifications in Afro hairdressing, as assisting with the artist's hair and beauty requirements may form part of the role.

We are seeking someone who is professional, motivated, friendly, loyal, and trustworthy, with a strong can-do attitude. The successful candidate should be capable of working independently, using their own initiative, and working effectively as part of a wider team. The candidate must be able to offer a long-term commitment and work flexibly around the artist's changing schedule. Some evening and weekend availability will be required.

Essential / Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience supporting adults with physical disabilities is essential, alongside a good understanding of disability awareness and accessibility.
  • Experience with grant and funding applications, particularly within the disability, charity, or community sector, is strongly preferred.
