I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What the role actually involves:

Get help with your application
Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
- Diary and inbox wrangling for two partners — scheduling, rescheduling, protecting focus time
- Owning our internal admin: Drive folder structure, file naming, client data tidy-ups
- ClickUp housekeeping — task reviews, chasing what's overdue, keeping boards honest
- Meeting follow-through: notes filed, action items logged, nothing lost after the call
- Light client-facing coordination (booking calls, chasing documents)
Who we're looking for:
- Mature and unflappable. Two partners, back-to-back meetings, changing priorities. They need to be calm in it, not swept along by it.
- Genuinely proactive. Spots the mess and fixes it before being asked. We don't have time to hand out instructions.
- Organised to an almost irritating degree. Systems, naming conventions, follow-ups that actually happen.
- Comfortable with AI and tools. This is not optional — we run on ClickUp, Google Workspace, Claude, Granola and automations. We want someone who reaches for AI first and enjoys it, not someone we have to drag there.
- Discreet. They'll see client financials and internal numbers.
- Bonus: any finance/accountancy practice exposure, but attitude beats background.
