Weekday mornings and evenings – 30–40 hours per week to start ASAP.

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Personal Assistant / Support Worker to support our 18-year-old son with autism and learning disabilities.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to the life of a happy, engaging young man by providing personalised support that promotes his independence, communication skills and overall well-being.

Our son is a cheerful, affectionate and engaging young man who loves to smile and sing. He enjoys being outdoors, cooking and baking, counting activities and simple turn-taking games. He is verbal but benefits from support to develop functional communication, independence and daily living skills.

He lives at home with his mum, dad and two brothers in East Hunsbury, Northampton.

We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements or reduced hours for the right candidate and would also consider sharing the role between two suitable applicants.

Main Duties

  • Support with morning routines, including bathing, dressing and personal hygiene.
  • Prepare breakfast and other meals, encouraging participation where appropriate.
  • Transport our son safely to and from CANTO Day Service using your own vehicle.
  • Support with toileting, personal care and hygiene while maintaining his dignity and promoting independence.
  • Encourage functional communication and social interaction throughout the day.
  • Support the development of self-help and independent living skills.
  • Engage him in enjoyable activities such as outdoor walks, cooking, baking, counting activities and turn-taking games.
  • Provide calm, consistent and positive support, helping him build confidence and enjoy meaningful daily activities.
  • Communicate effectively with family members regarding his day and any important information.
  • Maintain a tidy, organised and safe environment while supporting his daily routine.

The relief PA, hours to be discussed at the interview.

Main Duties

  • Helping employer with social and physical to assist the employer with her paperwork
  • To support employer with personal care, checking if medication was taken
  • Help with light household tasks and meal preparation
  • Any other task which the employer may reasonably ask you to do which falls within the scope of the job as a Personal Assistant.

Reference number: PL07/26; Location: Northamptonshire, NN7; Hourly rate: £12.71/h

The role can be on an employed basis or self-employed if required. We have a total of 420hours a year plus 7 nights available. It would work best for me if this was during school holidays to enable some quality time with my younger son as well.

The employer is a very friendly and loving young man. Loves anything to do with emergency services, animals and his baby dolls. He has an unbalanced chromosome disorder that causes learning disability and developmental delay.

Main Duties

  • This would be someone to take him out or have him in their home to give him new experiences and opportunities.
  • The ideal candidate would be someone with experience working with or having raised their own SEN child.
  • He will require assistance with some personal care (as required, with dignity and respect). He cannot be left in a property alone and cannot be left alone at all if out and about.
  • This role could be for just one person OR can be split between a few people so if you feel you couldn’t do nights or just a few hours etc please do still contact and discuss it.
  • Supporting with the employer’s attendance of occasional, local outpatient appointments.

Up to 8 hours per week.

The employer uses a wheelchair, and PA is required to get it into and out of their car. She self-propelled, so does not require assistance with this unless a steep incline.

Main Duties

  • A female worker is preferred and has knowledge of mental and it’s essential they are a driver.
  • They would be required to help her prepare and make meals.
  • Assistance in keeping her room and bathroom clean and tidy.
  • Support and take her to appointments
  • Take her out and help her in new environments, helping cope with social anxiety.
  • Providing calm reassurance and positive encouragement
  • Learn her coping mechanisms and what her triggers are.
  • Dog friendly as our dog is a big part of the family and comfort to her.
  • A good sense of humour is a must.

About You

You will be empathetic, patient, trustworthy, and emotionally resilient, with a calm and reassuring presence. You respect boundaries, value independence, and understand the importance of dignity and autonomy in care.

You will have the right to work in the UK, be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check, and provide references.
