Chadsgrove Educational Trust Specialist College
7.5 HOURS PER WEEK | PERMANENT | TERM TIME ONLY | START DATE: As soon as possible
Monday to Friday: 12.00pm – 1.30pm
SALARY: (SCP 3 - 4) £14.10 - £14.31 per hour (inc. Special Needs Allowance)
About the Role
Chadsgrove Educational Trust Specialist College, based in Catshill, is a further education provision for students aged 19-25 whose special educational needs arise from their physical disabilities and/or complex medical needs. In addition, some of our students have profound and multiple learning difficulties, sensory impairments, and/or communication difficulties.
Responsibilities
We are pleased to announce that we have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to complement our outstanding team. The role of a Personal Care Assistant is varied, you will be required to support students whilst maintaining and promoting high levels of dignity, wellbeing, and independence at all times. You will be supporting students’ with their personal care requirements in a variety of activities as part of their daily routine. Such activities include:

- Preparing for swimming sessions
- Support during lunchtime and lessons
- Assisting with personal hygiene where needed
Requirements
As the work of a Personal Care Assistant involves the manual handling of students, applicants need to be physically fit and capable of working co-operatively within a multi-disciplinary team. It is essential that applicants:
- Are ambitious for our students
- Have the ability to empathise
- Can work positively with individuals’ needs
- Are adaptable with a good sense of humour
Previous experience of working with adults with a physical disability would be an advantage but it is not essential as a bespoke, robust training package will be provided.
