A welcoming and supportive SEN school in Rochdale is seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. The school provides a nurturing and supportive environment for pupils with a range of special educational needs and additional needs.
The successful candidate will provide personalised support to pupils throughout the school day, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and feel comfortable and supported within the school environment. The role will involve assisting with personal care needs alongside supporting pupils with their physical, emotional, and educational development.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
- Supporting pupils with personal care, hygiene, and toileting where required
- Assisting pupils with mobility and physical needs safely and appropriately
- Supporting pupils to develop independence and confidence in daily routines
- Helping pupils access classroom activities and learning opportunities
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour throughout the school day
- Working closely with teachers and other support staff to meet individual pupil needs
- Following individual care plans, EHCPs, and safeguarding procedures
- Maintaining a calm, caring, and nurturing environment for pupils

The Successful Applicant Will
- Have previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN, care, or education setting
- Be confident supporting personal care and hygiene needs
- Have a patient, caring, and nurturing approach
- Be confident working on a 1:1 basis and as part of a wider team
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills
- Be reliable, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Have the right to work in the UK and be available full time
