Personal Injury Claims Adjuster

Location: Leeds

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Contract: Full-time

Overview

Our client is an established international insurance provider seeking a Personal Injury Claims Adjuster to join its Motor Personal Injury team.

The role will manage a varied caseload of motor personal injury claims, from initial investigation through to resolution and settlement. The successful candidate will assess policy coverage and liability, pursue appropriate recoveries, maintain accurate reserves and work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver an efficient and fair claims service.

This position offers the opportunity to apply strong investigative, negotiation, and relationship-management skills within a collaborative claims environment.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve motor personal injury claims in accordance with policy terms, internal claims standards, and agreed service levels.
  • Assess policy coverage and investigate potential coverage issues to ensure liability reflects contractual commitments.
  • Identify subrogation, contribution, and other recovery opportunities, pursuing them where appropriate.
  • Manage claims and related issues through to timely and economically appropriate settlement.
  • Review claims estimates, paid values, fees, and advice within agreed timescales.
  • Respond to requests from internal and external stakeholders in line with service standards.
  • Identify and escalate complaints appropriately while ensuring customers are treated fairly.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of the claims portfolio and provide relevant information to support underwriting and claims decisions.
  • Set and maintain accurate reserves to ensure the organisation’s potential liability remains clear.
  • Manage an individual caseload efficiently, ensuring claims are handled promptly and effectively.
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and external parties involved in the claims process.

Requirements

  • Proven experience handling policy coverage matters.
  • Experience conducting liability negotiations.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage a claims caseload efficiently and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Sound judgment, resilience, and customer-service skills.
  • The right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
