Role: Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Associate

Location: London
PQE: 1–5 years

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious solicitor to join a highly regarded Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence team in London.

The successful candidate will work on a varied and high-quality caseload of claimant matters, supporting clients through complex and often life-changing circumstances. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of cases, work alongside experienced specialists and continue developing expertise across both personal injury and clinical negligence litigation.

This position would suit a motivated solicitor who enjoys meaningful client work, wants greater responsibility and is looking to build a long-term career within a supportive and successful team.

The Role

You will manage your own caseload while assisting senior colleagues on complex and high-value claims. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing claimant personal injury and clinical negligence matters from initial instruction through to settlement or trial
  • Advising clients clearly and sensitively on legal strategy, procedure, and potential outcomes
  • Investigating claims, assessing liability, and gathering medical and expert evidence
  • Drafting correspondence, witness statements, pleadings, and other legal documents
  • Preparing cases for conferences, mediations, hearings, and trials
  • Attending client meetings, conferences with counsel, and court hearings where required
  • Conducting settlement negotiations and supporting alternative dispute resolution
  • Delivering a consistently high standard of service and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Keeping clients informed throughout the progression of their claims
  • Contributing to the continued growth and development of the team
  • Supporting business development, networking, and client relationship initiatives

About You

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with between 1 and 5 years PQE and experience handling claimant injury litigation. You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience managing your own caseload
  • Exposure to clinical negligence and/or personal injury claims
  • Strong technical knowledge and legal drafting skills
  • The ability to analyze complex medical and legal evidence
  • A compassionate, professional, and client-focused approach
  • Confidence communicating with clients, experts, counsel, and other professionals
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the financial management of cases
  • A proactive approach to learning, development, and career progression
  • An interest in supporting the team’s profile and developing new work

Strong academics are preferred, ideally including a 2:1 degree or above, although relevant experience and demonstrable ability will also be considered.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide consistently high-quality legal advice and client service
  • Conduct matters professionally, diligently, and in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all client and business information
  • Remain up to date with relevant legal, procedural, and regulatory developments
  • Accurately record time and maintain effective case management records
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider team
  • Contribute positively to the growth, culture, and success of the department
