Progressive Solicitors is looking for a driven, experienced Personal Injury Fee Earner to join our growing legal team in our Glossop office.

Role Description

The Personal Injury Fee Earner will manage a caseload of personal injury matters from initial instruction through to settlement or trial. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing new claims, taking detailed client instructions, gathering evidence, instructing experts, and drafting legal documents and correspondence. The role involves negotiating settlements with insurers and other parties, preparing cases for litigation where necessary, and ensuring that all work complies with relevant regulations and firm procedures. The fee earner will maintain accurate file records, meet billing and performance targets, and provide clear, empathetic communication to clients throughout their claims.

Qualifications

  • Experience handling personal injury claims, including liability assessment, quantum evaluation, and case progression from inception to resolution.
  • Strong legal knowledge of personal injury law, civil procedure rules, and relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Effective client care skills, including clear communication, empathy, and the ability to manage expectations and explain complex legal issues in accessible terms.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills for correspondence, statements, schedules of loss, and settlement discussions.
  • Solid organizational and time-management abilities, with experience managing a busy caseload, meeting deadlines, and working to financial and performance targets.
  • Proficiency with case management systems, digital file handling, and standard office software (e.g., Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team, maintain professionalism in all interactions, and contribute to a positive office environment.
  • Previous experience in a claimant personal injury environment, preferably within a solicitors’ firm, and a relevant legal qualification (e.g., solicitor, legal executive, or experienced paralegal).
