We’re looking for a motivated Personal Tax Associate to join our growing tax team. This opportunity is suited to someone with personal tax compliance experience who wants to build a long-term career in tax advisory.
The Opportunity
Working with the Head of Tax and wider advisory team, you’ll manage personal tax compliance while developing your technical knowledge and advisory experience.
The role offers mentoring, structured development and study support towards ATT and/or CTA qualifications.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Personal Tax Associate, you'll be responsible for:
Personal Tax Compliance
- Preparing and submitting Self-Assessment tax returns for company directors, business owners, high-net-worth individuals, landlords, partnerships and LLP members.
- Reviewing client information, identifying gaps and calculating tax liabilities.
- Managing correspondence and routine HMRC enquiries.
- Monitoring workflows and meeting filing deadlines.
- Preparing capital gains tax computations and disclosures.
- Supporting trust and estate tax compliance where required.

Client Service
- Handling routine personal tax queries.
- Building strong client relationships and delivering excellent service.
- Communicating clearly with clients, colleagues and HMRC.
- Gathering information needed to complete tax returns efficiently.
Tax Advisory Development
As your experience grows, you’ll gain exposure to:
- Capital gains and inheritance tax planning.
- Property tax and remuneration planning.
- Succession and exit planning.
- Share schemes and employee incentives.
- Advisory work for entrepreneurial and high-net-worth clients.
The role provides a clear route from compliance into advisory work.
Essential
What We're Looking For
- 1–3 years’ personal tax compliance experience within an accountancy practice.
- Experience preparing Self-Assessment tax returns.
- Good understanding of UK personal taxation.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills.
- Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- A proactive approach to learning.
Desirable
- ATT qualified or part-qualified.
- Experience with trust tax returns and capital gains tax calculations.
- Experience using CCH, Iris, TaxCalc or similar software.
- Previous exposure to tax advisory projects.
