Your New Company
This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading professional services firm with a strong reputation across Scotland and beyond. Due to continued growth within its private client tax team, the firm is looking to appoint a Tax Compliance Manager to support a diverse portfolio of individuals, trusts and estates while helping to develop and mentor junior team members.
Your new role
You will manage your own portfolio of private client tax compliance work, acting as the primary point of contact for a varied client base including high net worth individuals, partnerships, trusts, estates, farmers, sole traders and non-resident clients. Responsibilities will include overseeing compliance deadlines, reviewing work prepared by junior staff, managing WIP and fees, and identifying opportunities for additional services across your client base.
Alongside core compliance work, you will have exposure to a range of advisory matters including capital gains tax reporting, remuneration planning, trust registrations and other ad hoc client projects. You will also play an important role in supporting the development of junior colleagues through coaching, mentoring and line management responsibilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
