Description

We are excited to be looking for a Personal Tax Manager to manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring they meet their tax return filing obligations, and to provide a proactive, efficient and cost-effective taxation service. The role will also assist with ad hoc personal tax advisory work as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients to include:
    • Undertake reviews of self-assessment returns prepared by more junior colleagues.
    • Provide clients with a proactive, efficient and cost-effective taxation service that meets their needs and the requirements of regulatory authorities.
    • Negotiate and raise fees and take responsibility for WIP management across the client portfolio.
  • Report to the Line Manager and Partner, keeping them up to date on the progress of work undertaken.
  • Mentor and train colleagues at Tax Trainee level.
  • Work alongside senior team members to identify key opportunities within the client portfolio.
  • Assist with ad hoc personal tax advisory work arising from the portfolio, with opportunities to support other advisory assignments as required.
  • Contribute to the firm’s practice development activities, including preparing articles and e-shots, improving processes, delivering presentations and networking.
  • Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and HMRC processes and manuals, and communicate relevant changes to clients.
  • Attend relevant courses to develop interpersonal skills and maintain an appropriate level of technical CPD.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Qualified by experience, or ACA, ATT or CTA qualified.
  • At least three years’ experience in personal tax work.
  • Experience of other taxes would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent time-management skills, with the ability to meet a range of strict deadlines.
