Personal Tax Semi-Senior / Senior
Location: Stockport
Salary: £35,000–£42,000 DOE
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home
The Opportunity
We’re recruiting a Personal Tax Semi-Senior / Senior to join an established independent accountancy practice in Stockport, with 50+ staff across its departments.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ATT part-qualified or qualified tax professional, or someone studying towards or qualified in ACCA/ACA with strong personal tax experience.
You’ll need a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice, working predominantly within personal tax. The position offers a varied workload combining personal tax compliance, client relationship management and exposure to tax planning and advisory work.
The Role
Depending on your experience and level of appointment, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing personal tax returns for a varied portfolio of clients, with review responsibilities at Senior level
- Managing compliance deadlines and ensuring accurate, timely submissions to HMRC
- Supporting personal tax planning and advisory projects
- Assisting with HMRC enquiries and correspondence
- Researching more complex tax matters and presenting clear findings
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships and handling day-to-day queries
- Keeping up to date with UK tax legislation and compliance requirements
- Supporting the training and development of junior colleagues where appropriate

About You
We’re looking for someone who has:
- ATT part-qualified or fully qualified status, or is studying towards/qualified in ACCA or ACA with strong personal tax knowledge
- A minimum of 3 years’ personal tax experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Strong technical knowledge of personal tax compliance
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines and client expectations
- For Senior-level applicants, confidence managing client work independently and supporting junior colleagues
- The ability to commute to the Stockport office 3 days per week

Salary & Benefits
- £35,000–£42,000, depending on experience and qualifications
- Hybrid working – 2 days per week from home
- 20 days’ annual leave

Working Hours
- Monday–Thursday: 8:30am–5:15pm
- Friday: 8:30am–4:30pm
- Lunch: 1-hour break each day
