Senior Personal Tax – Private Client
Location: UK

The Opportunity
An established accountancy and advisory practice is looking for a Senior Personal Tax professional to join its growing tax team. This role would suit someone with experience in Personal Tax, Private Client Tax, or Individual Tax who is looking to take responsibility for their own portfolio while continuing to develop their technical and advisory experience.
You will manage a varied portfolio of individuals and private clients, covering UK and international personal tax matters, with support from Managers and Senior team members on more complex issues and tax planning. The role offers exposure across both tax compliance and tax advisory, alongside regular client contact and opportunities to become involved in wider tax projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of Personal Tax / Private Client clients, taking responsibility for day-to-day service delivery.
- Prepare and review personal tax returns, tax computations, and payment advice.
- Deal with client queries across a broad range of UK and international personal tax matters.
- Provide proactive personal tax advice and tax planning support to clients and colleagues.
- Assist Managers and senior team members with complex tax issues, technical projects, and one-off advisory work.
- Develop a good understanding of clients' wider financial and business affairs and identify opportunities to provide additional tax advice.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure a joined-up approach to client work.
- Identify and resolve client issues, escalating more complex matters where appropriate.
- Manage personal tax deadlines, workflow, and client expectations.
- Take responsibility for WIP, billing, and recoverability across the portfolio.
- Maintain and develop technical knowledge through training, research, and professional development.

The role can provide exposure to a broad range of Personal Tax and Private Client matters, including:
- Personal Tax Compliance
- Self-Assessment
- Income Tax
- Capital Gains Tax (CGT)
- Inheritance Tax (IHT)
- Tax Planning
- Private Client Advisory
- UK and international individuals
- High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs)
- Owner-managed businesses and business owners
- Trusts, estates, and wider private client matters where relevant
You do not need experience across every area. The key requirement is a solid grounding in Personal Tax / Private Client Tax, with an interest in developing your advisory and technical experience.
About You
You may currently be working as a:
- Personal Tax Senior
- Senior Personal Tax Advisor
- Personal Tax Associate
- Private Client Tax Senior
- Private Client Tax Advisor
- Individual Tax Senior
- Tax Senior
- Personal Tax Assistant Manager
You will ideally have:
- 3+ years' experience in Personal Tax, Private Client Tax, or Individual Tax.
- Experience managing a portfolio of personal tax clients.
- Experience with personal tax compliance, including Self-Assessment and tax returns.
- Exposure to tax advisory or tax planning would be advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Confidence dealing directly with clients and explaining tax matters clearly.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a wider tax team.
- The motivation to continue developing technically and take on increasing responsibility.

ATT, CTA, or another relevant tax qualification would be beneficial. Candidates who are studying towards ATT/CTA, qualified, or have substantial relevant experience will be considered.
Experience with tax software and accounting systems is useful, although specific software experience is not essential.
