The team is made up of professionals with expertise in both health and fitness and in training and education, providing a supportive and knowledgeable environment. Unique Health Clubs also partners with corporate clients, delivering team-building bootcamps and programs that promote wellbeing, leadership, and communication skills.

Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site Personal Trainer role based at Unique Health Clubs in Durham. The Personal Trainer will design and deliver individualized and small-group training programs, conduct fitness assessments, and guide members in the safe and effective use of equipment. Daily tasks include:

  • Leading workouts
  • Demonstrating proper exercise techniques
  • Monitoring member progress
  • Providing motivation and feedback

The role also involves generating leads and selling personal training sessions as well as gym memberships to prospective clients. A successful candidate is also expected to:

  • Deliver classes
  • Lead gym inductions for new members
  • Advise members on basic nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits
  • Collaborate with other trainers and staff to support club programs
  • Maintain a clean, organized training environment

The Personal Trainer will actively contribute to company social media platforms, member engagement, including possible support for corporate bootcamps and special fitness events.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • Strong Personal Training and Fitness Instruction skills, including program design and one-on-one coaching
  • Practical expertise in Circuit Training and Sports Coaching to lead varied, engaging group and individual sessions
  • Working knowledge of Nutrition to provide general guidance that complements training plans
  • A recognized certification in personal training or fitness and current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Ability to communicate clearly, motivate diverse clients, and foster an inclusive, respectful training environment
  • Strong observational skills to ensure safe exercise technique and to adapt programs to different abilities and goals

Previous experience in a gym, health club, or sports performance setting is preferred. Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.
