Description
The Women’s Academy vision is to create the most successful talent development programme within girl’s football by revolutionising the way the game is learnt and played. This role sits in the medical team and assists in delivering physiotherapy services to players.
The main responsibility is to work within a multi-disciplinary Medical and Physical Performance team to assist in delivering medical services to girls at Manchester United’s Women’s Academy to support the physical welfare of all players.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation support to injured players, ensuring safe and effective return-to-play outcomes.
- Conduct clinical assessments to determine player fitness for training and competition.
- Deliver injury prevention education and wellbeing support to players.
- Communicate player availability, injury status and rehabilitation progress with coaches, players and parents/carers.
- Attend training sessions and home and away fixtures as required.
- Build positive relationships with players, coaches, parents/carers and key stakeholders.
- Support safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare standards across all activities.
- Collect and maintain relevant data, records and evidence to support reporting and funding requirements.
- Undertake continuous professional development and represent the Club in a professional manner at all times.
- Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in line with Club policies and professional standards including;
- All notes and records must be kept securely in line with MUFC Record Keeping policy (Apollo)
- Abide by the CSP/SST Rules of Professional Conduct

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
- Experience supporting young people within a physiotherapy, sports therapy or medical environment.
- Experience managing and rehabilitating sports-related injuries in young athletes.
- Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding and child protection best practice.
- Knowledge of youth athlete musculoskeletal development and injury rehabilitation processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with players, parents/carers and colleagues.
- Empathetic, approachable and emotionally intelligent, with the ability to engage and inspire young people.
- Highly organised, reliable and self-motivated, with strong attention to detail.
- Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while managing individual responsibilities effectively.
- Committed to continuous professional development and maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy.
- Current SST, STO or CSP membership with appropriate insurance.
- ITMMiF or ATMMiF qualification.
Desirable
- FA Safeguarding Children qualification.
- FA Emergency or Intermediate First Aid for Sport qualification.
- Additional relevant qualifications or professional development courses.
- Full UK driving licence.
