At PGIM, You Can!
What you will do
The credit research team within PGIM Credit Fixed Income has an opening for an ESG Investment Analyst. This role is on a dedicated ESG research team within the broader credit team. The firm aims to integrate ESG factors likely to influence the financial value of its investments into its fundamental credit analyses. In addition, it has a suite of tools focused on assessing issuers’ ESG-related impacts for clients that wish to apply an additional impact lens.
ESG assessments of individual issuers are largely the responsibility of credit research analysts and economists. However, as a member of the ESG Research team, you would support the development and maintenance of the ESG frameworks and tools used for issuer-level analysis, assist credit research analysts in applying those frameworks and tools, contribute to higher-level, thematic ESG research, assist in the firm’s ESG engagement activities, and generally act as a source of expertise on ESG topics.
What you can expect
- Supporting senior analysts on the ESG team to cover specific sectors and countries, which will also involve partnering with PGIM FI’s credit research analysts and economists.
- Supporting senior analysts on the team to cover specific strategies (e.g. European Investment Grade) in order to ensure integration of ESG into the portfolio management process.
- Maintaining and enhancing PGIM FI’s approach to analyzing ESG risks and opportunities as well as the proprietary framework for applying its ESG impact ratings.
- Undertaking sector, thematic, and issuer-level ESG research across all fixed income asset classes and regions.
- Participating in ESG engagement efforts in close partnership with credit research analysts and economists.
- Contributing to ESG-related thought leadership for use by PGIM Fixed Income and its clients as well as other relevant external-facing ESG-related communication.
- Potentially representing the team in external initiatives and organisations.
- Recommending and developing new analytical tools, and working with the firm’s technology solutions group to implement these where needed.
- Supporting the client advisory group to communicate the firm’s ESG approach to clients.
What you will bring
- A strong interest in ESG-related topics and research.
- Excellent analytical skills, as well as creativity and a proven capacity for critical thinking.
- Intellectual curiosity and a strong personal interest in ESG subject matter; ability to learn new concepts quickly.
- Competency in moderate data analysis (but note that this is not a purely quant position); strong Excel skills and at least some meaningful experience with / knowledge of coding.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships, both internally and externally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas and concepts at a level of detail adapted to the audience; role will involve presenting to senior management, clients and other external stakeholders.
- Clear capacity to maintain focus and deliver required outputs on time.
- Self-motivation, self-reliance and good organizational skills; many aspects of the role are unstructured and the candidate will be expected to add and develop new ideas and initiatives.
- Strong written and spoken English language skills.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
