Confidential Search | Head of Business Development | Shanghai
I'm currently partnering with a well-funded, fast-growing biotechnology company to identify a Head of Business Development, based in Shanghai.
This strategic leadership role reports directly to the CEO and will lead the company's global business development and licensing-out strategy, driving strategic partnerships with leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the company's global business development and licensing-out strategy.
- Lead strategic partnering and licensing transactions with global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
- Drive partner identification, opportunity evaluation, due diligence, negotiation, and deal execution.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, CMC, and executive leadership to maximize portfolio value and commercialization opportunities.
- Build and maintain a strong global partner network and represent the company at major international partnering conferences.

Ideal Candidate
- 10+ years of Business Development, Licensing, Corporate Development, or Strategic Partnership experience within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated track record in global licensing-out and strategic transactions.
- Experience in cell & gene therapy, gene editing, mRNA, biologics, or other innovative therapeutic platforms is highly preferred.
- Strong scientific understanding combined with excellent commercial acumen.
- Bilingual (English & Mandarin) with outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
