The Role
Are you an ambitious and patient-focused pharmacist ready to further develop your specialist clinical practice? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for a dedicated Specialist Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Services team and play a key role in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care. Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, you will use your expertise to support safe, effective and evidence-based use of medicines while helping to improve outcomes for patients across a range of clinical settings. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
Permanent, full-time
Monday to Friday, weekend working and participation in public holiday rota and extended hours rota
On-call commitment
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist pharmaceutical care and medicines management services within designated clinical areas
- Provide expert advice and guidance on medicines optimisation to healthcare professionals, patients and carers
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds and clinical decision-making processes
- Support safe, effective and cost-conscious prescribing in line with local and national policies
- Contribute to audit, research, quality improvement and service redesign initiatives
- Supervise, train and support pharmacy staff, trainees and other healthcare professionals
- Identify and manage medicines-related risks while promoting patient safety and clinical governance

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job:
- Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Significant post-registration experience delivering clinical pharmacy services within a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of medicines legislation, clinical pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical care principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and advise a wide range of stakeholders
- Proven ability to analyse complex clinical information and apply sound professional judgement to improve patient outcomes
- Strong organisational, numeracy and IT skills with the ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure
