The Pharmacy Department in Wrexham Maelor Hospital is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Pharmacy Assistant to support us in the Goods-Receipt & Distribution areas of the service. This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, committed team and learn new skills in a dynamic, supportive environment. As the successful candidate you will need to be self-motivated, able to concentrate on detailed tasks and understand the importance of working to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

We will support you in completing the Buttercups Stock Management course; if you do not already have this or an equivalent.

Standard NHS conditions of service apply.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Provide pharmacy support services including:

  • Supply of medicines, wound care products, diagnostic reagents, nutritional products and disinfectants held as stock on wards and in departments of the Health Board.
  • Ordering and receipt of medicines and general goods into the pharmacy department.
  • Dispensary receptionist and support duties.
  • Over labelling of manufacturers’ original packs in batches according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • To comply with Code of Conduct and work within BCUHB’s identified policies, protocols and guidelines and comply with the security requirements at all times.
  • Work in partnership with patients, other health and social care colleagues and services internal and external to BCUHB, as appropriate, to achieve the optimum health outcome for service users.
  • To undertake a range of clerical and administrative tasks which contribute to the smooth running and efficiency of the Healthcare Services and support licensed activity.

Essential criteria

  • GCSE pass or equivalent in Maths and English Language
  • NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services or willingness to undertake and achieve NVQ Level 2 within 12 months of appointment

Experience
