Pharmacy Assistant (Maternity Cover) - Day Lewis Newbury

Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to your local community? Day Lewis Newbury is looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused Pharmacy Assistant to join our team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.
Whether you already have pharmacy experience or are looking to start a career in healthcare, we provide full training and ongoing support to help you succeed.
Hours of Work
30-40 hours per week
Working Monday to Friday, with shifts scheduled during our opening hours of:
9:00am - 5:30pm
Hours and shift patterns can be discussed at interview to suit the needs of the business and the successful candidate.
Fixed-Term Maternity Cover Contract may be opportunity to amend to permanent hours in the future.
This position is offered on a fixed-term maternity cover contract until the end of January 2028.
Whilst the role is initially offered on a temporary basis, Day Lewis is committed to retaining talented colleagues wherever possible. Should opportunities arise, we will look to offer additional hours within the pharmacy or alternative opportunities at nearby Day Lewis pharmacies before the contract comes to an end.

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the pharmacy team to deliver outstanding patient care and excellent customer service.

You will receive a structured induction programme, ongoing training, and support from an experienced team. Depending on your previous experience, you may also have the opportunity to complete accredited pharmacy qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Pharmacist Manager, you will:
- Support the pharmacy team in delivering excellent patient care and customer service.
- Assist with the safe and efficient running of the dispensary.
- Serve customers at the medicines counter in a professional and friendly manner.
- Build positive relationships with patients and local healthcare professionals.
- Support the delivery of pharmacy services and healthcare initiatives.
- Follow company procedures and pharmacy regulations at all times.
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive and dedicated team.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Enjoys working as part of a team.
- Is organised, reliable, and eager to learn.
- Has a genuine interest in healthcare and helping others.
- Is committed to delivering outstanding patient care.
Previous pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
