Pharmacy Business Development Manager

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and forward-thinking leader to join our Pharmacy senior leadership team as Pharmacy Business Development Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong operational, financial, and performance management expertise to play a pivotal role in shaping the commercial future of Pharmacy services at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership across a broad portfolio, including service development, business planning, financial oversight, performance improvement, clinical trials income generation, and service continuity, while working closely with the Director of Pharmacy, senior clinical leaders, and wider Trust colleagues.

We are seeking a highly capable individual with significant management experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to lead change, influence across organizational boundaries, and deliver results in a complex NHS environment. In return, you will join a values-driven team, with the opportunity to make a real difference to patient care, contribute to innovative service development, and be part of the wider BSW Hospitals Group, helping to shape collaborative working and future models of care across the Group.

In this key role you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational management for Pharmacy, ensuring financial balance and management, performance assurance, and cross-Trust collaboration.
  • Hold delegated service responsibility for delivery, expansion, and income generation from clinical trials and research and development.
  • Designated operational lead to maintain service continuity, including decision-making authority when senior professional managers are unavailable or on a rota basis.
  • Lead Trust-wide programmes, and drive efficiency, income generation, and cost improvement while upholding governance, contract, and regulatory and financial requirements.
  • The post holder will be a specialist resource to the Pharmacy Department and will have a significant role in supporting our strategic development and commercial opportunities as well as act in an operational capacity supporting the robust delivery of Pharmacy services.
  • The role will help to shape future direction and forge sustainable profitable new business relationships to meet the relevant growth targets.
  • Reporting directly to the Director of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation, the post-holder will be accountable for providing financial oversight for RUH Pharmacy services, developing and maintaining services both in the Trust and with partner organisations.
  • Be a part of the Trust On Call Management Rota and Divisional bed rota.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
