Job Summary
Pharmacy@UHB Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary company of University Hospitals Birmingham. We provide a pharmacy service for Queen Elizabeth and Heartlands Hospitals and are currently recruiting Pharmacy Assistants for our Heartlands site.
We provide a service to outpatients and patients due to be discharged from hospital. This varied role would involve working in the two pharmacies as the face of the pharmacy, greeting patients, staff and visitors and providing the best care possible to our patients whilst supporting the wider pharmacy team.
The role is a great introduction to pharmacy and previous Pharmacy Assistants have successfully been supported through further training to qualify as a Pharmacy Dispenser within the company. We offer an excellent environment to learn the fundamentals of pharmacy or further develop pharmacy skills. We encourage applications from those with or without pharmacy experience but experience of working with customers or patients in a customer service role is essential. Other strongly desirable qualities include flexibility, attention to detail and good IT proficiency.
This post is for 35 hours per week.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
Successful applicants will join our existing Pharmacy Assistant team to:
- Greet patients at the pharmacy counter and over the phone
- Make over the counter medicines sales
- Perform administration roles to allow timely discharge of patients from wards
- Be involved with stock control
- Various other roles which support the wider pharmacy team
