Pharmacy Intern / Part Time
The Pharmacy Intern supports the safe, effective, and compliant preparation and distribution of medications, while offering opportunities to apply academic knowledge, develop technical skills, and contribute to high-quality patient care under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists. Pharmacy Intern is an onsite position.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacy laws, professional standards, and hospital policies by accurately performing assigned duties under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Assist in receiving, storing, packaging, labeling, and distributing medications—ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, especially regarding controlled substances and drug recalls.
- Perform technical pharmacy tasks such as prescription label typing, compounding, and inventory management, using appropriate pharmaceutical math, terminology, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records for drug receipt and distribution, including narcotic inventory, expired medications, and pharmacy documentation, as directed by the pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy team by following precise oral and written instructions, participating in medication deliveries, and filling in for pharmacy technicians as needed.
- Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.
- Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request. May be expected to work longer hours as necessary.
