Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Pharmacy Clinical Trials team at Glan Clwyd Hospital as a Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technician. Working within a supportive and forward-thinking team, you will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, patient-focused service supporting innovative research across North Wales.
The role will involve working closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and research teams, supporting clinical trials across a range of specialties including oncology and haematology. This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills in clinical trials and build experience within a growing and evolving service.
Main Duties of the Job
- Support the day-to-day delivery of the clinical trials pharmacy service, including dispensing and checking clinical trial prescriptions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the safe storage and handling of investigational medicinal products in line with Good Clinical Practice and departmental procedures.
- Assist with ordering, stock control, temperature monitoring, and maintenance of trial documentation, ensuring all records meet regulatory requirements.
- Work both independently and as part of a team, communicating effectively with pharmacy, clinical, and research staff.
- Contribute to training, service improvement, and audit activities, with support to develop your skills and knowledge within this specialist area.
The role requires strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to manage workload in a busy environment. Please note that this post includes participation in a weekend and public holiday rota to support the wider Pharmacy service.

Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered pharmacy professional with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- BTEC in pharmaceutical sciences.
- NVQ Level 3 in pharmaceutical sciences with recognised underpinning knowledge course, or equivalent, recognised by the General Pharmaceutical Council for registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Maintain Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
- Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician and/or Medicines Management qualification.
- Experience of working within a pharmacy – including a variety of different aspects e.g. dispensary, ward top ups, aseptics and stores.
- Adhere to legislation-Good Clinical Practice (GCP) on a day to day basis.
Desirable criteria
- Accredited accuracy checking technician in primary care or willing to undertake.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven track record in Pharmacy.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of staff supervision.
- Previous experience of working in a hospital pharmacy.
