Summary
The core purpose of the National Trust – to protect and care for places so that people and nature can thrive – depends on our crucial fundraising work. We’re looking for a Philanthropy Consultant to join us in London & South East, to help shape and achieve our ambitious vision for fundraising.
This is a part-time role. Ideally you'd be able to work all day on Tuesdays, but we're open to discussing this at interview.
We plan to hold interviews on the week commencing 14 September 2026.
What It's Like To Work Here
You’ll be part of the Trust’s specialist delivery team: a flexible resource of specialist skills and expertise. As one of a multidisciplinary team of experts, including curators, fundraisers, building surveyors and project managers, you’ll be working with others to help make things happen.
This role is based in the London & South East region, your contractual place of work will be one of the National Trust offices, to be discussed at interview. Our hybrid working policy means you can balance office and home working with site visits and meetings at other National Trust places with regular visits to our London sites and office. We’ll talk about this in more detail at interview, but you should expect to be at a National Trust site for 40–60% of your working week.
The team delivers work that deepens audience engagement and builds meaningful awareness, connection and action for the National Trust, shaping how people understand, value and support its mission. They are an open, honest, considerate and highly collaborative group who work across diverse places, projects and strategic priorities to create impact at scale.
What You'll Be Doing
You’ll be working alongside others responsible for raising funds, a variety of specialists, colleagues who manage Trust places and their teams who work on site. You’ll be sharing your knowledge and expertise, supporting others to develop and deepen their understanding.
You'll work at much-loved Trust places and reach stretching targets through a range of fundraising initiatives. You'll be responsible for developing relationships with new trusts and foundations, and with high-value supporters, talking to them about all aspects of the Trust’s work. You’ll be working with our advocates, project teams and specialists from across the Trust.

You'll expand philanthropic giving to an inspiring cause, and you’ll support and develop new fundraising initiatives.
Who We're Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you’re:
- Experienced in developing complex fundraising plans, with multiple income streams, for projects with high 6 and 7 figure stretching targets, and can show evidence of hitting these targets
- Proficient in fundraising through individual giving, gifts in wills and charitable trusts
- Adept at building and adapting a compelling case for support
- Able to challenge colleagues to think differently and become innovative fundraisers
- A skilled communicator, who can build strong relationships within diverse teams, both internally and externally
- A flexible thinker and problem-solver, skilled at negotiating and building productive networks, and confident in using your expertise to influence decisions
- Proactive and organised, with experience of managing projects and a talent for multi-tasking and getting things done, strongly focused on detail, quality, cost and time
- A leader for inclusion, who finds ways to create an inclusive culture
