Position: Applied Philosophy Benchmark Specialist
Type: Hourly Contract
Compensation: $50–$63/hour

About the Opportunity
Mercor is seeking philosophy experts to contribute to advanced AI research projects by developing and reviewing high-quality academic assessment content. This role involves creating rigorous philosophy questions, evaluating solution quality, and helping establish benchmark datasets that improve the reasoning capabilities of next-generation AI systems.
Ideal Candidates
- PhD or Doctoral Candidate in Philosophy or a closely related field.
- Master's degree considered for candidates with exceptional expertise in a relevant subdomain.
- Strong background in philosophical reasoning, formal logic, and academic research.
- Expertise in areas such as AI Ethics, Applied Epistemology, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Technology, or Formal Ontology.
- Research publications or teaching experience is highly preferred.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities
- Author challenging multiple-choice philosophy questions that assess deep conceptual understanding.
- Create clear, self-contained questions with one correct answer and plausible alternative responses.
- Write detailed reasoning and reference solutions for each question.
- Review and verify existing questions for accuracy, clarity, rigor, and solvability.
- Rate question difficulty and provide supporting academic references.
- Help develop gold-standard benchmarks used to evaluate advanced AI systems.

Compensation
