Are you seeking a new challenge?

We are looking for someone to join our friendly team of Phlebotomists.

This is a part-time position with up to 30.5 hours available per week.

You will be part of a team providing a blood-taking service across Scarborough Hospital outpatient and ward areas, as well as the new CDC service in Eastfield, Scarborough, and at Malton Hospital.

You Will Need To Be

  • An enthusiastic and motivated team player.
  • Someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality, timely, and effective phlebotomy services.
  • Flexible and able to work across all service locations and hours on a rotating basis.

Previous blood-taking experience is not essential. If you share our values and are committed to patient care, we would love to hear from you!

Interviews for this position are held in person only and requests for remote interviews will not be offered.

Responsibilities

  • To collect blood samples from patients through venepuncture, as requested by clinicians and other appropriately authorised doctors and health professionals.
  • To collect blood samples safely with due respect to the dignity of patients, and the needs of other clinical services.
  • To ensure blood samples are collected in appropriate containers, labelled correctly, and prepared and dispatched to relevant laboratory sections in a timely and correct manner.
  • To contribute to the provision of an efficient, high quality service and ensure that proficiency and competence and personal and professional standards of that group are maintained.
  • To work closely with Medical, Nursing, and Laboratory staff to provide a rapid blood collection service, which is sensitive to service requirements on individual Wards, OPD or GP practices as appropriate.
  • To provide high quality, timely and effective phlebotomy services to patients on one or more floors at Scarborough Hospital, or other designated areas as directed by the Deputy/ Phlebotomy Manager.
  • To take part in a weekend and bank holiday rota to maintain phlebotomy services across the Trust.
