About The Role

INTEC SELECT LIMITED is seeking an experienced PHP Developer to join its internal technology team in Basingstoke, working on a hybrid basis with one day onsite per week. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and enhancement of critical CRM applications that underpin the company's operations. As a key member of a cross-functional Scrum team, the PHP Developer will be responsible for delivering new functionalities, refining existing systems, and supporting the ongoing evolution of applications to meet the dynamic needs of the business. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative Agile environment, working alongside developers, QA specialists, Business Analysts, and DevOps professionals to produce high-quality software solutions that drive business success.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess a minimum of three years of commercial experience in PHP development, demonstrating a strong technical background and a proven track record of delivering robust software solutions. Essential qualifications include proficiency with PHP 7.4, particularly with CakePHP, as well as PHP 8+ frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony. Experience in building backend systems and APIs, coupled with a solid understanding of MySQL, is required. Candidates should also have working knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS, along with familiarity with version control systems like Git. Additional desirable skills include experience with Docker, Linux/WSL environments, unit testing, and automated testing practices. Exposure to Vue.js/Nuxt, Azure cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, messaging technologies, or microservices architecture will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems using PHP frameworks such as Laravel and CakePHP.
  • Delivering features end-to-end, encompassing development, testing, and deployment phases, ensuring high standards of code quality and performance.
  • Enhancing existing legacy systems, particularly CakePHP applications, and building robust APIs and backend services to support business operations.
  • Writing clean, maintainable code adhering to best practices and participating actively in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Supporting system design, integrations, and technical enhancements to optimize system performance, scalability, and reduce technical debt.
  • Participating in Agile ceremonies, working closely with the wider technology team to identify opportunities for technical improvements and innovation.
