About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PHP Developer with extensive expertise in Symfony to join our client’s dynamic team. This fully remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on long-term projects within a UK-based software agency that values quality and innovation. As a Senior PHP Developer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing a SaaS platform utilizing a modern tech stack including PHP, React, MySQL, and AWS cloud services. Your role will involve designing and implementing APIs, participating in the full software development lifecycle, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions.
This role is ideal for a developer who thrives in an environment that emphasizes autonomy and technical excellence. You will not be micromanaged or client-facing, allowing you to focus solely on producing robust, maintainable, and efficient code. The position offers a competitive salary of up to 70,000 GBP depending on experience, along with flexible remote working arrangements and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in modern PHP development, with significant experience working with Symfony framework. Proficiency in AWS cloud services, relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines is essential. Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like React, as well as building and consuming APIs (GraphQL and REST), is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of SOLID design principles and full lifecycle development experience, including code maintenance and upgrades.
Additional advantageous skills include familiarity with NodeJS, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, and PHP Unit testing. Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in the UK, as this role is fully remote within the UK. Applications from outside the UK will not be considered.
Responsibilities
As a Senior PHP Developer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining a SaaS platform using PHP, React, MySQL, and related technologies within an AWS environment.
- Designing, developing, and optimizing APIs (GraphQL and REST) to support various client and internal applications.
- Participating in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Maintaining existing codebases, implementing upgrades, and continuously improving system performance and security.
- Shaping the technical direction of projects and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features through a proactive approach.
