Senior PHP Developer
London (Hybrid)
Role Details
Position: Senior PHP Developer - Technical Architect
Location: London, UK (Hybrid) (2-3 days WFO)
Experience: 9+ Years
Employment Type: We are open for both Permanent/Contract
Work Authorisation: Valid UK work authorisation is mandatory
Key Skills Required
- Strong experience in PHP backend development within high-traffic consumer products.
- Experience building and operating production systems at scale.
- Strong understanding of API design, client-server communication, and mobile API versioning.
- Hands-on experience with MySQL, caching technologies, distributed systems, and high-availability architectures.
- Experience with gRPC/Protocol Buffers.
- Familiarity with GCP, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with monitoring, observability, performance optimisation, and incident management.
- Knowledge of monetisation/payment systems including subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- Ability to work effectively with Product, QA, Design, and Mobile Engineering teams.
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code.

- Computer Science or related degree.
- Experience with Aerospike, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch.
- Experience working with large monolithic applications and cloud migrations.
- Understanding of GDPR and consumer data privacy requirements.
