About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior PHP Developer to join our client's dynamic team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a developer with a strong background in PHP and Symfony to take ownership of critical web applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new features, maintaining existing systems, and supporting production environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives. This position requires a proactive approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to evolving project requirements. The Senior PHP Developer will play a vital role in modernizing legacy systems, improving application performance, and ensuring secure coding practices are adhered to throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of professional experience in web application development, with proven expertise in PHP 8+ and Symfony framework. A strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and SOLID principles is essential. Candidates should have extensive experience in developing and integrating RESTful APIs, along with knowledge of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT for secure authentication and authorization. Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript ES6+ is required. Additionally, candidates should have solid SQL skills, including relational database design, query optimization, and performance tuning using PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar databases. Experience working with Linux, Git, Docker, and containerized development environments is highly desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate familiarity with automated testing, secure coding practices, and OWASP guidelines. Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders are crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain existing web applications and supporting systems to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Participate actively throughout the entire software development lifecycle within an Agile team environment, delivering high-quality code on time.
- Investigate and resolve production defects, including issues related to application code, APIs, databases, and infrastructure components.
- Translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
- Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs, including implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms.
- Modernize legacy applications to improve functionality, reduce technical debt, and enhance system stability.
- Write automated unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and ensure adherence to best coding practices.
- Optimize application and database performance through effective query tuning and system improvements.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and follow secure coding standards to safeguard applications and data.
