About The Role
We are seeking an experienced PHP Developer to join our internal technology team in Basingstoke, working on a hybrid basis with one day onsite per week. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and enhancement of critical CRM applications that support our business operations. As part of a collaborative Agile environment, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, QA specialists, Business Analysts, and DevOps professionals. Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality software solutions, improving existing systems, and supporting the ongoing evolution of our applications to meet dynamic business requirements.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of three years of commercial experience in PHP development, demonstrating a strong technical background and a passion for coding excellence. Proficiency in PHP 7.4, particularly with CakePHP, along with experience with PHP 8+ frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony, is essential. A solid understanding of backend system architecture, API development, and database management using MySQL is required. Familiarity with JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS is also necessary. Candidates should have experience using version control tools like Git, and working within Docker and Linux/WSL environments. Knowledge of automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and software design principles will be advantageous. Additional exposure to Vue.js/Nuxt, Azure, messaging technologies, or microservices architecture will be considered a plus.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust backend systems utilizing PHP frameworks such as Laravel and CakePHP.
- Design, implement, and deploy new features from conception through to production, ensuring quality and performance standards.
- Refactor and enhance existing legacy systems, including CakePHP applications, to improve functionality and maintainability.
- Create and maintain APIs and backend services to support various application integrations.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes to ensure code quality.
- Support system architecture design, integration efforts, and technical improvements to optimize performance and scalability.
- Engage actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, fostering effective team collaboration.
- Identify opportunities for technical enhancement, performance optimization, and reduction of technical debt across projects.

INTEC SELECT LIMITED offers a competitive salary package within the range of £40,000 to £55,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and skills.
