Senior PHP / Laravel Developer
Fully Remote (UK) | Up to £65,000 DOE
We are working exclusively with an ambitious, technology-led business that is building a brand-new in-house engineering team as part of an exciting period of growth.
This is a rare opportunity to join at the very beginning of a greenfield project, helping to design and build a modern platform from the ground up using the latest technologies and an AI-augmented development workflow.
If you're an experienced Laravel/PHP developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing architectural decisions and working in a highly autonomous environment, we'd love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Our client is investing heavily in its technology platform and is looking for a Senior PHP / Laravel Developer to become one of the first members of a new UK engineering team.
- Play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining modern business-critical applications.
- Help shape both the technical direction and engineering culture as the team grows.
- Work within a cloud-native, microservices-based architecture.
- Build scalable systems, integrate with third-party services and contribute to products that handle complex business workflows and recurring customer services.
This is far more than a typical Laravel CRUD role, you will be working on sophisticated platforms where clean architecture, performance, automation and scalability are central to everything you build.

What We're Looking For
Essential
- Around 4-6 years' commercial PHP development experience
- Strong Laravel experience beyond simple CRUD applications
- Experience building complex business systems and workflows
- React (TypeScript) and/or Vue.js experience
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to write and optimise complex queries
- Experience designing, building and integrating APIs
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices
- Comfortable working from the command line
- Strong communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fully remote team
Desirable
- Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Microservices or distributed systems
- AWS
- Docker & Kubernetes
- Terraform or Infrastructure as Code
- Financial systems or regulated environments
- Subscription or recurring billing platforms
- Payment integrations
- Application security
- Performance optimisation
- Open-source contributions
- AI-assisted software development
