PHP Tech Lead
Location: Wrexham/Hybrid
What we do:
We’re the leaders in outsourced calls, live chat, and more, delivering brilliant conversations on behalf of businesses of all sizes. Fast-forward two decades and what started as a single, dedicated PA (who’s still with us today) looking after calls for a handful of local clients, is now a 1000-strong team working across two continents from our state-of-the-art UK headquarters in Wrexham, and our US office in Atlanta.
The role:
As a PHP Tech Lead, you will play a pivotal role in leading our team of PHP developers, overseeing the architecture, development, and maintenance of our PHP-based applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, provide technical guidance, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions that align with our business objectives.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of PHP developers, providing technical guidance, support, and feedback to foster their growth and ensure project success.
- Drive the design and development of scalable, secure, and efficient PHP applications in accordance with best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, assess project feasibility, and propose technical solutions aligned with business goals.
- Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and sprint planning to ensure timely delivery of high-quality code.
- Conduct code reviews, implement quality assurance processes, and enforce coding standards to maintain code integrity.
- Stay updated with the latest PHP trends, tools, and technologies, advocating for their integration when applicable.
- Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
