About The Role
We are seeking a skilled PHP Web Developer to join our dynamic technical team in Chichester, West Sussex. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a developer passionate about creating innovative and bespoke web solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining custom web applications and business systems that cater to diverse client requirements. Working within a collaborative environment, the developer will directly engage with clients and colleagues to understand project needs and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. Unlike traditional development environments, this role involves a high degree of autonomy, requiring excellent communication skills, commercial awareness, and effective project management capabilities. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in modern PHP development, with proven experience in object-oriented programming and PHP 8. or higher. A background working with PHP frameworks or large-scale applications is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for writing clean, maintainable, and reusable code, complemented by experience with code quality tools such as PHPUnit, static analysis, and automated testing. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial, along with the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues efficiently. Excellent communication skills are vital for working directly with clients and team members. A track record of successfully delivering projects on time, accurately estimating effort, and proactively identifying potential risks is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain bespoke web applications and business systems tailored to client needs.
- Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Write clean, scalable, and reusable code following best practices and coding standards.
- Implement automated testing and quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of code integrity.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex technical issues, providing effective solutions promptly.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to enhance project delivery.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Engage directly with clients, providing technical guidance and support throughout project lifecycles.
