About The Role
We are seeking a skilled PHP Web Developer to join our client's dynamic technical team based in Chichester, West Sussex. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, providing flexibility to balance onsite and remote work. The successful candidate will play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining bespoke web applications and business systems for diverse clients. Working directly with clients and internal teams, you will be responsible for translating complex requirements into effective technical solutions, ensuring high standards of quality and performance. This position is ideal for a developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes ownership of their projects from conception to deployment.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in modern PHP development, particularly with PHP 8 and object-oriented programming principles
- Strong understanding of PHP frameworks or large-scale PHP applications
- Passion for writing clean, efficient, and reusable code
- Experience with automated testing tools such as PHPUnit, static analysis, or continuous integration processes is highly desirable
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
- Track record of successful project delivery, accurate estimation, and risk management
- Additional skills in front-end technologies, database management, cloud infrastructure, or eCommerce integrations will be considered advantageous
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and maintaining bespoke web applications and business systems tailored to client needs
- Collaborating closely with internal teams and clients to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure solutions meet business objectives
- Writing high-quality, maintainable code
- Conducting code reviews
- Implementing testing protocols to ensure software reliability
- Investigating and resolving complex technical issues promptly
- Optimizing application performance
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Prioritizing tasks effectively, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and communicating progress transparently to stakeholders
