Position: Registered Physical Health Nurse
Location: Emerald Place Clinic, Farmfield Drive, Charlwood, Horley, RH6 0BN
Type: 12-month maternity cover post
Working Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. The odd weekend shift may be required.


About the Role:
Join the team at Emerald Place Clinic, a general adolescent inpatient unit for the care and treatment of young people aged 12 up to the age of 18. Young people who are admitted to the unit will have a primary diagnosis of mental illness across a wide range of disorders and complex needs.


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating physical healthcare plans/treatments to patients to maintain their optimum level of physical well-being.
  • Supporting staff to ensure routine and ad hoc tests are carried out as prescribed and the results recorded appropriately within Care notes.
  • Leading the development and review of all care plans for physical health, to ensure that patient’s physical health needs have clear interventions, which are being met.
  • Supporting the clinical team on the ward and covering staff when required.
  • Ensuring that all patients have their ECG’s as prescribed by the Consultant and evidence is documented on Care notes.
  • Leading the education of staff in relation to the use of Naso-gastric tube feeding.
  • Attending each ICR meeting on a weekly basis to contribute to the development and review of physical healthcare plans.
  • Chairing the Hospital's healthy living group, promoting physical well-being topics on a monthly basis.
  • Being the named lead for infection control within the hospital, providing professional advice, education, and support to staff.
  • Undertaking clinical audits and supporting emergency drills.
  • Facilitating educational workshops/teaching sessions on aspects of physical care healthcare best practice treatments.
  • Supporting immunisation within the hospital.
  • Offering healthcare/health promotion across a range of conditions for staff.
  • Working alongside families and professionals to develop a positive approach to healthy living.

Requirements:

  • Hold a full and valid NMC registration – evidence required.
  • A minimum of 2 or 3 years post-registration experience.
  • Experience in NG Feeding & Phlebotomy.
  • Experience of training others.
  • An understanding of eating disorders and mental health.
  • Experience of working with young people is desirable.
