About The Role
Transformation Delivery, Physical Security Operations plays a key role in delivering the BT Security Strategy and supporting BT Group’s ambition to be the most trusted connector of people, devices and machines.
You will help move new physical security systems and processes into BAU, with particular responsibility for maturing and operationalising Genetec Security Center across PSOC, access control, video and alarm-monitoring services. This includes PSOC improvements, turnkey alarm monitoring for retail stores, integrated access control across the retained estate, and controlled coexistence with legacy platforms. You will also support wider BT priorities, including Network Modernisation, simplification and strategic Big Bets such as AI.
This helps Physical Security Operations protect BT’s people, buildings, retail stores, networks and critical infrastructure — the assets our customer service depends on. You will contribute to the operational delivery of BT’s Security Strategy and Transformation, helping BT become the world’s most trusted connector.
This role requires 3 days in the office & can be based in any of the following locations: Northampton / Bletchley / Birmingham / Ipswich (Ipswich only available to existing BT staff)
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead through expertise, set clear operational standards, coach PSOC users, coordinate suppliers and delivery teams, and drive adoption of Genetec and legacy-service improvements.
- Hands-on triage and escalation for Genetec Security Center, Mission Control, access control, CCTV, alarm integrations and associated legacy monitoring platforms, including liaison with vendors and internal technical teams through to service restoration.
- Drive continuous improvements to Physical Security Operations (PSOC and PIAM) through strategic projects. Influence decision-makers and help teams adopt simpler, better ways of working.
- Help maintain network and service availability by ensuring effective security protection for colleagues, customers and BT.
- Work with stakeholders at Director level on matters relating to BT physical security.
- Support activities on behalf of Group ExCo, Security Council and BARC.
- Lead the operational maturity of Genetec Security Center, including configuration standards, alarm and event workflows, integrations, service performance and adoption within PSOC.
- Maintain safe and resilient support for legacy monitoring used by BT operational exchange sites and EE retail stores, while planning risk-controlled migration, coexistence and decommissioning where appropriate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
