Department The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seeks a full-time, Board Certified/Eligible Plastic Surgeon. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position Overview
The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is seeking an outstanding, motivated, board-certified/board-eligible plastic surgeon to join our comprehensive plastic surgery team.
The ideal candidate should:
- Have a strong interest in breast and body contouring surgery, lower extremity reconstruction, and complex wound management.
- Demonstrate a commitment to building and growing a clinical program within an academic health system.
- Be open to assuming leadership roles at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s East Hospital and Comprehensive Wound Center, including:
- Program development
- Clinical innovation
- Expansion of plastic surgery services
- Actively contribute to the department’s academic mission via teaching, mentorship, and research.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for exceptional patient care.
Preferred candidates will have experience in leadership and multidisciplinary program development.
Department/Division Overview
- Faculty: 20 full-time faculty (OSU), 5 faculty based at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and 10 community faculty.
- Mission: Clinically excellence, research, and education.
- Residency Program:
- Integrated and independent pathways.
- Currently 27 residents + 3 fellows (microsurgery/nerve focus).
- Reach: Referral center for Central Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky. Serves patients across Wexner Medical Center locations including:
- University Hospital, East Hospital, The James Comprehensive Cancer Center, and multiple free-standing ambulatory sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality medical care.
- Train and supervise clinical and didactic education for learners (residents, students, fellows).
- Adhere to department and chair guidelines.
Requirements
- Degree: M.D. or D.O.
- Training: Completion of an accredited Plastic Surgery Residency Program.
- Certification: Board Certified or Board-Eligible in Plastic Surgery.
- License: Eligibility for an Ohio Medical License.
