Capita delivers the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) on behalf of the government, supporting individuals applying for benefits including Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), and Universal Credit (UC).

Role Description
As a Physiotherapist Assessor / Functional Specialist, you’ll use your clinical expertise and analytical skills in a different way—to meet with benefits claimants in person, via video link, or on the phone, write in-depth reports, and make important clinical recommendations, all while enjoying a more structured and flexible way of working.
What We Offer (Benefits)

- Full or part-time hours (minimum 3 days per week)
- Monday to Friday, between 8 am to 5 pm (with occasional 8 pm finishes only as needed)
- No weekends or night shifts
- Salariy: £39,500 starting, rising to £40,500 after DfC approval
- 10% salary bonus scheme (based on quality and performance)
- Hybrid working—home and clinic-based (up to 3 days per week)

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structured assessments to evaluate how health conditions affect day-to-day function and/or ability to work or engage in work-related tasks.
- Produce high-quality, detailed, evidence-based reports that support Decisions for Customers (DfC) in making fair and informed decisions.
- Complete 2 to 5 assessments per day (either face-to-face at clinics, via video call, or by phone).
- Interpret observations, listen with empathy, and gather extensive information.
- Analyse clinical evidence and documentation.
- Write concisely and thoroughly (3,000 to 4,000 words) with clear clinical justification.
- Continuously develop expertise across conditions and their impact on daily life or work ability.

Qualifications & Requirements
About You
- HCPC registered Physiotherapist with a valid PIN and no ongoing restrictions.
- Minimum 1 year post-registration experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, and detailed reports.
- Comfortable working efficiently to meet structured targets.
- Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new systems while working remotely.
- Excellent observational and listening skills, with the ability to empathise and gather deeper information.
- Driving license or transport access for assessment visits.
Security & Compliance
- Successful candidates undergo Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) vetting.
- This role includes regulated activity related to children or vulnerable adults and requires an enhanced criminal record check.
